Three decades into their career, Wilco are still anything but a nostalgia act, and this summer one of alternative rock and americana’s most influential and uncompromising bands comes to Way Out West.
In recent years, Current Joys have reached a new audience through social media, where the song “Kids” in particular has been given a new life. It’s a reminder that deeply personal songs — old or new — can still spark huge engagement among younger listeners.
If Jalen Ngonda had broken through in the early 1970s, his name would very likely have been mentioned in the same breath as the most defining voices in soul music. The only difference is that he’s making this music now — and because of that, the present is richer.
Some bands knock on the door before stepping inside. Lambrini Girls don’t work like that. They kick the door in, shout something inappropriate, and then describe themselves better than any critic ever could: “The best band in the world.
