The Basics

When is Way Out West 2022?

Way Out West will take place in Slottsskogen and around central Gothenburg between August 11-13 2022.

I bought a ticket in 2020 or 2021. Is it still valid?

Yes! If you’d like to attend the festival 2022 you don’t need to do anything. Just bring your ticket from 2020 or 2021 and all will be fine.

I kept my ticket from 2020. Has my ticket upgraded?

Yes! You did receive an email about it back in 2020, but in case you forgot we can confirm that your ticket still is upgraded, Premium if you had a Standard Ticket and VIP if you had a Premium ticket. Yey!

What are the age limits at Way Out West?

The age limit at Way Out West is 13+ for Youth tickets, and 18+ for Standard tickets.

Government guidelines for sound levels in Sweden recommend that persons under 13 years of age should not be exposed to the high sound pressure levels that can be experienced at festivals and concerts. You must be over 13 years of age to attend Way Out West (this includes toddlers with hearing protection too). To enter the bar areas where alcohol is served, and all of the Stay Out West venues + Stage Dungen you must be over 18 years of age (it is a good idea to bring photo-ID if you are under 30).

I have a Youth Ticket. Which acts can I see?

You can see all major acts playing in Slottsskogen! For example, Dave, Burna Boy, Central Cee, Tame Impala and AJ Tracey can all be viewed with a youth ticket. The youth ticket does not include acts playing in the Dungen area (DJ:s only) or at Stay Out West. You can see which act is playing where by clicking on them in the lineup section!

I’ve bought a Youth ticket (to either 2020 or 2021) but will have turned 18 before the festival this year. What to do?

If you bought a Youth ticket, but turned 18 before this year’s festival, you will be able to upgrade to an Adult ticket free of charge as a thank you for holding on to your ticket. Please contact Ticketmaster directly to make the upgrade.

How do I know which acts are playing Stay Out West?

Stay Out West is 18+ only and starts when the last tone in Slottsskogen is played. If you check out our lineup poster, all bolded names are playing in Slottsskogen and all non-bolded names are playing Stay Out West. Simple as that.

Will proof of COVID vaccination be required to enter the festival?

As of now we will not require vaccine certificates, however we do encourage everyone to get vaccinated! All Covid-19 restrictions in Sweden have been lifted. If there were to be new regulations set by the Swedish Government we will of course follow them. If there is any new information regarding this, all ticket holders will be contacted via email.

Are refunds available if Way Out West is postponed or canceled due to Covid-19?

If the unlikely event of the festival being postponed or canceled your festival passes will automatically be valid for the rescheduled date. If you wouldn’t be able to attend the new date, refunds will be offered and more information will be sent out to all ticket holders. It is safe to buy your tickets now! We cannot verify the policies of any third-party ticket resellers.

Can I get a refund if my favorite artist would cancel their show?

Please note that your ticket is for Way Out West Festival, not for a specific artist. Artist cancellation is not grounds for refund. At a festival event, both the organizer and the audience should take into account that last minute changes are possible. This could be, for example, a popular artist canceling their appearance due to unforeseen difficulties not related to the festival organizer. Therefore, unfortunately we cannot refund ticket prices due to individual artist changes. We also hope that our audience understands this, and the fact that these changes are often sudden and independent of the festival organizer. This way of dealing with possible changes is in connection to the common ways of operation in the festival scene at large.

The festival area – do’s and don’ts

Stages

Way Out West has five outdoor stages: Flamingo – the largest of the three outdoor stages. Azelea – the second largest stage (though not much smaller than Flamingo). Linné – the marquee stage. Dungen – the place to go if you like dance music (18+). Höjden – the stage for intimate shows.

Stay Out West

When the last tone is played in Slottsskogen and the area becomes silent, the festival continues in venues all over central Gothenburg. It accelerates and moves on with concerts long into the morning hours under the Stay Out West flag. This is a chance to experience big artists on smaller stages with an atmosphere that feels like nothing else.

More information about this year’s Stay Out West venues will be announced shortly.

Tips & advice

Clothing: Please bring suitable clothing. If rain is forecast, bring rainwear. The evenings can be chilly, so please bring something warm to wear even if the weather is hot.

Earplugs are for sale at the official festival merchandise tent.

Food and drink: It’s important to drink plenty of water during the day especially if it’s warm and you’re also consuming alcohol. It’s also easy to miss putting some real food in your stomach when you’re busy running around seeing all your favorite bands, so please, don’t forget to drink and eat regularly throughout the day.

Sunscreen can be a good idea if you’re out in the sun all day so bring some with you.

Where should I stand? It is often quite crowded the closer to the stage you get. If you’re not used to being at concerts it may be wise to stand a bit further back. Should you wish to stand close but avoid the crowd, the sides are always a safe bet. Please watch out for the people around you!

Traveling to and from Gothenburg

When at all possible we recommend taking the train to Gothenburg. More information on getting to and from Gothenburg can be found here.

Traveling within Gothenburg

Like any metropolitan area, Gothenburg has an efficient public transportation system that can get you to and from the festival site and just about anywhere else you need to go in the city. More information can be found here.

Tree climbing

Please do not climb the trees on the festival site.

Umbrellas

Umbrellas are not allowed at the festival. Unfolded umbrellas obstruct the vision of those behind you in the crowd, so please bring rainwear instead.

Wardrobe

Wardrobe and storage units can be found outside the festival entrance.
