Way Out West Market

What is festival merch? That’s a question we ask ourselves before every festival, and the answer ends up being something different almost every time. This year, we launched an open call for independent creators to create together with us. The result is Way Out West Market, a place where Way Out West’s sustainability ethos meets independent creativity.

In Way Out West Market you’ll find creators such as O.P Jewellery, who have developed a Way Out West collection together with artist Niklas Hallberg, several creators from Cay Collective, record store Bengans, and of course our own merch collection, which this year includes everything from cheese slicers to seeds.

Way Out West Market is made possible together with Bring, who will offer everyone purchasing a product the opportunity to ship it home free of charge. The plan is for Market to become a recurring part of the festival.

O.P Jewellery & Niklas Hallberg

O.P Jewellery is built around naïve passion, good luck and shiny things. The company was founded in Stockholm in 2014 and creates jewellery, objects, and collaborations together with artists and other passionate people they admire.

Niklas Hallberg runs the tattoo studio Myndigheten in Södermalm and works as an artist from his studio in Bagarmossen. His art mainly revolves around drawing on old paintings and porcelain he finds at flea markets and second-hand shops. His style is more or less the same type of imagery that he most often tattoos. For Market, OPJ and Niklas have created a Way Out West-specific jewellery collection rooted in both of their creative practices.

Cay Collective

Cay Collective is a platform that curates carefully selected independent creators producing unique art and design. Together, Cay Collective creates space and a voice for smaller creators and promotes craftsmanship as a more fun and sustainable alternative to the harmful practices of mass production.

GASH

GASH is a Stockholm-based multidisciplinary fashion project creating unique, custom-made products in vegan leather, as well as jackets and accessories made from repurposed materials. By combining slow fashion, craftsmanship, and conceptual storytelling, the project explores sustainability through design, upcycling, and contemporary visual expression.

Bengans

For more than fifty years, Bengans has supplied the good people of Gothenburg with records. Those working at Bengans are music lovers themselves just like their customers. At the festival, Bengans will be selling vinyl records from acts performing at the festival and more.

Stadsmissionen

This year, Stadsmissionen Second Hand and Way Out West are once again joining forces to make the festival’s merchandise collection circular. Stadsmissionen Second Hand has selected garments such as hoodies, T-shirts, and shirts that will be printed with Way Out West logos on-site in Slottsskogen during the festival, August 13–15.

Way Out West Merch

In collaboration a few partners, we’ve taken our own merch to a new level this year. We don’t want to reveal everything just yet, but expect to find plenty of unusual and fun merch products in our section of the Market.
