The Basics

When is Way Out West 2022?

Way Out West will take place in Slottsskogen and around central Gothenburg between August 11-13 2022.

I bought a ticket in 2020 or 2021. Is it still valid?

Yes! If you’d like to attend the festival 2022 you don’t need to do anything. Just bring your ticket from 2020 or 2021 and all will be fine.

I kept my ticket from either of the postponed festivals 2020 or 2021. How do I know if my ticket is upgraded?

If you’ve kept your ticket from either of the postponed festivals 2020 and 2021 your ticket will be upgraded. You just bring your old ticket to the festival. However, the upgrade doesn’t show on the ticket, it will be visible when the ticket is scanned in the entre.

If you had a Standard ticket, you will get Premium and if you had Premium you will get VIP.

Can I still use a ticket if it’s not my name on it?

Yes, the tickets are not personal and it doesn’t matter if it’s not your name on it.

What are the age limits at Way Out West?

The age limit at Way Out West is 13+ for Youth tickets, and 18+ for Standard tickets.

Government guidelines for sound levels in Sweden recommend that persons under 13 years of age should not be exposed to the high sound pressure levels that can be experienced at festivals and concerts. You must be over 13 years of age to attend Way Out West (this includes toddlers with hearing protection too). To enter the bar areas where alcohol is served, and all of the Stay Out West venues + Stage Dungen you must be over 18 years of age (it is a good idea to bring photo-ID if you are under 30).

When can I get my wristband?

You must exchange your ticket for a wristband at the festival entrance at Linnéplatsen before you can enter the festival site or attend any Stay Out West shows. The tickets are not personal but once the festival wristband is on your wrist it cannot be transferred to someone else. You cannot collect a wristband for someone else as the wristband is put on the wrist at the wristband exchange.

The opening hours for the wristband exchange are:

Wed Aug 10: 12.00 am – 10.00 pm
Thur Aug 11: 11.00 am – 10.00 pm
Fri Aug 12: 11.00 am – 10.00 pm
Sat Aug 13: 11.00 am – 10.00 pm

I have a Youth Ticket. Which acts can I see?

You can see all major acts playing in Slottsskogen! For example, Dave, Burna Boy, Central Cee, Tame Impala and AJ Tracey can all be viewed with a youth ticket. The youth ticket does not include acts playing in the Dungen area (DJ:s only) or at Stay Out West. You can see which act is playing where by clicking on them in the lineup section!

I have a question regarding the accessibility at Way Out West.

At Ticketmaster you can find more information about the accessibility at Way Out West. Read more HERE under “Info”. Don’t hesitate to pop us an email at [email protected] if you have any further questions. You can also contact Ticketmaster HERE.

How do I know which acts are playing Stay Out West?

Stay Out West is 18+ only and starts when the last tone in Slottsskogen is played. If you check out our lineup poster, all bolded names are playing in Slottsskogen and all non-bolded names are playing Stay Out West. Simple as that.

Will proof of COVID vaccination be required to enter the festival?

As of now we will not require vaccine certificates, however we do encourage everyone to get vaccinated! All Covid-19 restrictions in Sweden have been lifted. If there were to be new regulations set by the Swedish Government we will of course follow them. If there is any new information regarding this, all ticket holders will be contacted via email.

Are refunds available if Way Out West is postponed or canceled due to Covid-19?

If the unlikely event of the festival being postponed or canceled your festival passes will automatically be valid for the rescheduled date. If you wouldn’t be able to attend the new date, refunds will be offered and more information will be sent out to all ticket holders. It is safe to buy your tickets now! We cannot verify the policies of any third-party ticket resellers.

Can I get a refund if my favorite artist would cancel their show?

Please note that your ticket is for Way Out West Festival, not for a specific artist. Artist cancellation is not grounds for refund. At a festival event, both the organizer and the audience should take into account that last minute changes are possible. This could be, for example, a popular artist canceling their appearance due to unforeseen difficulties not related to the festival organizer. Therefore, unfortunately we cannot refund ticket prices due to individual artist changes. We also hope that our audience understands this, and the fact that these changes are often sudden and independent of the festival organizer. This way of dealing with possible changes is in connection to the common ways of operation in the festival scene at large.

The festival area – do’s and don’ts

Sat Aug 13: 11.00 am – 10.00 pm

Umbrellas are not allowed at the festival. Unfolded umbrellas obstruct the vision of those behind you in the crowd, so please bring rainwear instead.

Tips & advice

Clothing: Please bring suitable clothing. If rain is forecast, bring rainwear. The evenings can be chilly, so please bring something warm to wear even if the weather is hot.

Earplugs are for sale at the official festival merchandise tent and you are of course allowed to bring your own. We recommend you to use earplugs if you experience that the sound is too loud. Take care of your ears <3

Food and drink: It’s important to drink plenty of water during the day especially if it’s warm and you’re also consuming alcohol. It’s also easy to miss putting some real food in your stomach when you’re busy running around seeing all your favorite artists, so please, don’t forget to drink and eat regularly throughout the day. There’s water stations around the area to fill your empty bottle, please bring one to the festival.

Sunscreen can be a good idea if you’re out in the sun all day, so bring some with you.

Where should I stand?

It is often quite crowded the closer to the stage you get. If you’re not used to being at concerts it may be wise to stand a bit further back. Should you wish to stand close but avoid the crowd, the sides are always a safe bet. Please show respect and look after the people around you!

Traveling within Gothenburg

Like any metropolitan area, Gothenburg has an efficient public transportation system that can get you to and from the festival site and just about anywhere else you need to go in the city. There’s also bikes to rent at various place. More information can be found here.

Tree climbing

It’s forbidden to climb the trees on the festival site.

Wardrobe and storage units can be found outside the festival entrance.

Stay out West

Please note that the clubs have limited capacity and you’re not guaranteed entrance. If there’s something you really don’t want to miss, come early.

This year’s Stay Out West venues:

Pustervik. Claimed as a classic for a reason, as Gothenburg’s CBGB’s. This location consists of one larger and one smaller stage reviving the nostalgia created withing these halls, memories that keeps the atmosphere of Pustervik as great as it’s always been.

Nefertiti. Gothenburg’s jazz mecca has recently had a huge revival. They have been a part of the festival in the past but returns this year with the flag waiving high. This place has magic within its walls.

Liseberg. A long-awaited returnee and the biggest venue of the year! Polketten is a venerable dance floor that has been around since 1926 and offers the opportunity to hang out both outdoors and under the roof.

Scandic Göteborg Central. During this year’s Stay Out West, you’ll find The Grand Container – the festival’s only black box. You go here to dance, not to stand still.

Oceanen. A creative center on Stigbergstorget – across the street from the record store Bengans. A place for cultural expression of all kinds as well as one of the best concert venues in town for smaller acts. Here you’ll be able to experience tomorrow’s big stars in a venue that oozes modern contemporary.

Musikens Hus. In the heart of Majorna, you’ll find this cultural centre that includes everything from restaurants to concert venues. This is a relatively new location with a long history that is also within walking distance of Slottsskogen, a perfect place for those who don’t want to compromise.

Folkteatern. One of Gothenburg’s finest theatres and a popular part of Stay Out West in the past. The theatre’s stages and foyer are usually a lively meeting place for talks, concerts, poetry, film art and more. During Stay Out West, the focus is entirely on the concert experiences.
