Svart Ridå
Slottsskogen Saturday August 15th
Right now, Swedish indie rock feels more vital than it has in decades. Across the country, young bands are once again filling rehearsal spaces with distortion, desperation and dreams of turning noise into something meaningful. Few of those new bands feel more exciting than Svart Ridå. The Malmö-based trio move effortlessly between dark indie rock, explosive shoegaze and dreamy post-punk, creating music that feels simultaneously atmospheric and violently immediate. Their songs are filled with towering guitar walls, rumbling basslines and moments where fragile calm suddenly erupts into total emotional release. On the 2025 album “Aponia”, Svart Ridå sharpened that contrast even further. The record helped cement their position as one of Sweden’s most compelling new guitar bands, a momentum that continued into 2026 when they emerged as the biggest winners at the GAFFA Awards, taking home Artist/Band of the Year, Album of the Year and Rock Act of the Year. But as acclaimed as the records have become, it is their reputation as a live band that has truly turned Svart Ridå into one of the most talked about young acts in Sweden right now — powerful, cathartic performances where elegant melancholy and total chaos seem to coexist at the exact same moment. This summer, Svart Ridå brings that intensity to Way Out West.
