The group of bands that are as good, or better, than they were 20 years ago is not overly crowded. Indie rock stalwarts The National are not only members of that exclusive club but also its torch bearer. The rich compositions, the selfless interplay, the emotional intensity and the painfully relatable lyrics of crooner Matt Berninger has evolved into something that granted the American five-piece a significance that transcends competition. A progression that expanded their lush, multilayered, flourishing music into something larger than rock.
Last year, The National released not one but two albums. First the reflective, temperate ‘The First Two Pages of Frankenstein’ where we find collaborations with artists such as Taylor Swift and Sufjan Steven and later ‘Laugh Track’, which apart from appearances from Phoebe Bridgers and Bon Iver consists of leftover material combined with some newly written tracks. We are beyond thrilled to welcome the iconic, ever-evolving The National to Way Out West!
