Songs about waiting for something big to happen has always been an integral part of the indie rock narrative, but very few carries on the tradition with more finesse than Wednesday does. The semi-autobiographical stories are set in Asheville, North Carolina, and are funny, dark, tragic but perhaps most of all, deeply emphatic. And the music that stretches from 90’s shoegaze to country twang serves as the perfect backdrop for the patchwork of portraits painted by singer/songwriter/guitarist Karly Hartzman. Wednesday who, apart from Hartzman, consists of MJ Lenderman, Xandy Chelmis, Ethan Baechtold and Alan Miller created their best album yet with the widely celebrated ‘Rat Saw God’ from 2023 and this summer, the Ashenville quintet will visit Way Out West!
