The remarkable renaissance of shoegaze pioneers Slowdive is improbable and reasonable, all at the same time. Improbable because it’s not common that a relatively obscure band from the 90’s returns to the stage bigger than ever, captivating a completely new generation of listeners. Reasonable because there is an eternal, youthful quality in the dreamy, reverb-drenched noise that provides the settings for the enigmatic interplay between the quiet voices of Neil Halstead and Rachel Goswell. Slowdive formed in 1989 and released three records in the 90’s, including the seminal ‘Souvlaki’ from 1994, but went on a hiatus that lasted until 2017 and their triumphant return with their celebrated self-titled album. Last year, Slowdive released the widely acclaimed ‘everything is alive’ where we find the British band evolving their sonic tapestry with electronic influences while continuing to construct lush, melancholic, otherworldly landscapes. We are proud to welcome shoegaze legends Slowdive to Way Out West!
