Sara Parkman
Friday August 14th
Few artists have reshaped a tradition as decisively, and as carefully, as Sara Parkman. Over the past decade, she has reimagined Swedish folk music from within, treating it not as something fixed, but as a living, porous form that can hold both history and urgency at once. In doing so, Parkman has emerged as a defining voice of a new generation, bringing a once-marginalised tradition back into focus through music that is as politically charged as it is emotionally immediate. Following the acclaimed “Eros Agape Philia” 2023, she now returns with new material on the forthcoming album “Aster, atlas”, released this May. A continuation of her ongoing exploration of sound, identity, and belonging. Her work moves seamlessly between the ceremonial and the intimate, between the archaic and the contemporary, often finding its fullest expression on stage. At Way Out West this summer, that world unfolds in real time, a performance shaped as much by presence as by power.
Sara Parkman will perform in Slottsskogen on Friday August 14th.
