The Flamingo Award for Best Short Film is presented annually as part of Way Out West’s official short film selection, recognising the year’s most outstanding work among the short films selected. Ahead of the announcement, the nominated films are screened in full for the audience.

Following the screening, the Flamingo Award will be presented to the film judged to best represent the depth and originality of this year’s short film programme.

This year’s jury:

Amy Deasismont — screenwriter, director and actress, currently scriptwriter of the Cannes-awarded TV series Svärtan.

Göran Hugo Olsson — director behind acclaimed documentaries including The Black Power Mixtape and Israel Palestine on Swedish Television 1958-1989.

Josef Kullengård — Head of Industry at the Gothenburg Film Festival.

Alba August — actress and director known for Becoming Astrid and The Rain, with a growing music career under her own name.

Lisa Nordström — composer, awarded a Guldbagge in 2022 for Children of the Enemy.
