Douglas “Dogge Doggelito” Léon, once the face of Sweden’s multicultural suburbs, is struggling to make ends meet. After losing his wife Leonida to cancer, Dogge left his band The Latin Kings to raise his daughter, but today he feels misunderstood and forgotten. Caught between his need for recognition and the pressure of unpaid bills, he fights to be seen as more than a stereotype. Shot over 12 years, Malandro Moon (Första blatten på månen) is a story about identity and rebounding after loss. Dogge’s migrant roots and search for acceptance reveal the uneasy relationship Sweden has with cultural diversity. Mixing dark humor, 90’s archive footage, and Iván Blanco’s persistent cinematography, Malandro Moon captures Dogge’s quest for dignity with raw emotion and humor.
