This year, we’ve teamed up with an unexpected but life-saving presence that will appear at Way Out West – Tobiasregistret. Through a new initiative where the registry temporarily changes its name to highlight the lack of diversity, we’re inviting festivalgoers to help save lives.
The collaboration focuses particularly on the need for greater diversity in the registry. Genetic matching plays a crucial role in stem cell transplantation, and people with non-European backgrounds currently have a significantly harder time finding a suitable donor – only a 10–30% chance of a match compared to 70% on average. This makes it more important than ever for Tobiasregistret to reach wider audiences and new arenas – such as ours.
Tobiasregistret will be on-site with a clear goal: to get as many people as possible to join the stem cell donor registry. Why? Because you can be someones only chance of survival. Let’s do it – tillsammans.
