We’re launching Swedish Startup Kitchen – a tribute to Swedish innovators

This year, we’re putting Swedish food innovation in the spotlight with Swedish Startup Kitchen – a brand new food area where the plant-based flavors of the future take center stage. In collaboration with some of Sweden’s most forward-thinking food entrepreneurs, we’re inviting you to experience innovative tastes created with the planet in mind.

Since 2012, we’ve been a fully vegetarian festival – a statement for the climate, the future, and flavor itself. This year, we’re taking things one step further by placing an even bigger focus on food. Together with some of Sweden’s top plant-based food innovators, we’re proud to introduce Swedish Startup Kitchen. It’s a place for our visitors to experience the very best of Swedish plant-based innovation. With this initiative, we aim to open doors for more people to discover new brands and products built by Swedish entrepreneurs – essential innovations to keep our future food systems open, awake, and sustainable.

“There are many of us working within Swedish foodtech and plant-based development who are fighting for a more sustainable world. But it’s difficult to reach consumers, and that’s why this space is so important. Way Out West has worked with sustainability for a long time and is a perfect platform to open up conversations about the structural barriers within today’s food system,” says Lisa Laurell, project manager for Swedish Startup Kitchen.

In this unique collaboration together with some of Sweden’s most groundbreaking food startups, we’re serving the food of the future – crafted with both the planet and pleasure in mind. At a container kitchen near the Linné tent, you’ll be able to taste dishes from Hooked, Oh Mungood, Färsodlarna, and For Real! Foods. You’ll also find drinks rooted in Swedish innovation – from brands like Häppi and Kado Drinks. And if you’re craving something sweet, Dig and naima will be there for you. The menus are created in collaboration with Generation Waste to minimize food waste, and everything is served using smart, circular solutions from Grale – from plate to sorting bin.

Swedish Startup Kitchen is set to be a natural spot for both inspiration and appetite – right in the heart of Way Out West.

And as always, we’ll be offering a wide and vibrant range of food and drinks across the festival. Local chefs, beloved food trucks, and other inspiring culinary voices will take over Slottsskogen for three delicious days. The full food and beverage program will be revealed closer to the festival.
