Let’s keep those announcements coming! Welcome Sara Parkman, Earl Sweatshirt [US] (SOW), Tyler Ballgame [US] (SOW), Swank Mami [NO], Melody’s Echo Chamber [FR] (SOW), and Hannah Cohen [US] (SOW) to Way Out West 2026!
It was clear from his breakthrough in the influential Odd Future collective that Earl Sweatshirt had little interest in following any rulebook. A defiance that has only grown more pronounced over time. Unlike former Odd Future peers such as Tyler, The Creator and Frank Ocean, Earl Sweatshirt has continued to drift further from the mainstream, embracing an increasingly left-field trajectory. His beats are often fragmented, the productions noisily experimental, and the themes laced with a distinct strain of dark humor. Yet one constant remains: Earl Sweatshirt’s razor-sharp precision as a rapper and lyricist.
Few artists have reshaped a tradition as decisively, and as carefully, as Sara Parkman. Over the past decade, she has reimagined Swedish folk music from within, treating it not as something fixed, but as a living, porous form that can hold both history and urgency at once. In doing so, Parkman has emerged as a defining voice of a new generation, bringing a once-marginalised tradition back into focus through music that is as politically charged as it is emotionally immediate.
There was a time when it seemed uncertain whether there would be more music from Melody’s Echo Chamber. Following a life-threatening accident in 2017 and the years of recovery that followed, French artist Melody Prochet stepped away from the spotlight, leaving the future of her singular project unclear. What has emerged since is not merely a return, but a quiet transformation — a body of work shaped by clarity, resilience, and a renewed sense of purpose. In 2025, that journey culminated in her fifth album, “Unclouded”, a luminous and weightless record inspired by Hayao Miyazaki’s notion of seeing the world with eyes free from hatred.
In addition, the Norwegian club-oriented R&B act Swank Mami, LA-based singer-songwriter Tyler Ballgame, and Hannah Cohen, who recently released her fourth album and is touring with Amanda Bergman, are also being announced.
