For the Swedish audience, Timbuktu needs no further introduction. Jason ’Timbuktu’ Diakté is one the country’s most respected and beloved hip-hop artists and has been so ever since he exploded onto the scene in 1996. For almost 30 years he has constantly evolved into new shapes and forms while maintaining his immutable commitment to civil rights. During the stage adaptation of his critically acclaimed book ‘A Drop of Midnight’, Timbuktu initiated a collaboration with the relentlessly funky Harlem group The Rakiem Walker project – a partnership that, for obvious reasons to whoever witnessed them perform together, expanded. This summer, following his coming new album ‘har berg har vatten (一零一)’, Timbuktu & The Rakiem Walker Project will once again join forces to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the classic album “Alla vill himmelen men ingen vill dö” at Way Out West!
