Magnus Carlson is a Swedish singer and songwriter known for his magical voice in the band Weeping Willows. In addition to releasing many albums with Weeping Willows, Magnus has also released several solo records – both in Swedish and English – spanning genres like soul, pop, and jazz. The Moon Ray Quintet was formed in 2008, and their self-titled debut, featuring jazzy covers of favorite songs, was released the following year. The follow-up, Echoes, came out the year after that and included, among other tracks, ’From Now On’ – a cover of Oskar Linnros ’Från och med du’ that sounded so crisp you might have thought Oskar’s original was actually the cover. Since then, the group has performed sporadically, and in August, we’ll see them again at Stay Out West for an evening dedicated to sweet and jazzy soul music.
