There is something elusive about Hannes. Even now, as he has gradually become a household name in Sweden, his artistry remains lightyears away from the carefully polished world of conventional pop stardom. His music instead feels like a serious kind of play — soulful, free-flowing and marked by an imperfect perfection that feels both disarming and deeply human. The songs move effortlessly between alternative R&B, west coast rock and country, all held together by Hannes’ warm, intimate voice and the casually conversational storytelling that has become one of his defining traits. Although Hannes has been releasing music since 2017, the breakthrough came with the 2021 EP “When the City Sleeps”, featuring songs like “Sugar” and “I Feel It”. Just a year later came the modern-day anthem “Stockholmsvy”, where Hannes and Waterbaby sang about both Stockholm and lost love. This year’s critically acclaimed debut album “God Bless Sweden” further deepened the singular atmosphere surrounding Hannes — intimate, nostalgic and impossible to mistake for anyone else’s. This summer, Hannes brings that same sense of intimacy to Way Out West.
