Wear the future
Saturday
Fashion is never just clothes. It’s identity, culture, creativity and belonging. It tells the story of who we are, who we want to be and which narratives we choose to carry with us. At the same time, we live in an era where trends are born and die faster than ever. Algorithms, social media, AI, designers, artists and influencers are all competing for our attention – but who is actually shaping the style of the future?
In Wear the Future, fashion, culture and research come together for a personal, forward-looking conversation about how design shapes both our identities and the way we consume. Together, they explore why everything is said to start at the design stage, what originality even means in a world where inspiration is endlessly recycled, and how fashion can be a force for both creativity and sustainable change. Can sustainability be just as tempting as the next trend? How do we navigate microtrends and digital noise without losing ourselves in the process? And what might the wardrobe of the future look like, if we start valuing what we already have in new ways?
Wear the Future is a conversation about style, the present and the future – full of fresh perspectives, concrete ideas and hopeful visions of a fashion world where creativity and sustainability go hand in hand.
Participants in the Wear the Future panel are the artist and songwriter Valter Nilsson, Chief Sustainability Officer at Lindex Anna-Karin Dahlberg, Danish designer Sally Bjerre Gaarde and moderator Anna Lidström, associate professor in design at Textilhögskolan in Borås.
As a collaboration with Greentopia, this talk is part of the UN Sustainable Lifestyle Hub in Gothenburg, highlighting local solutions to global challenges.
WOW Talks is presented by Storytel and the talks will also be available afterwards in the Storytel app.
