When Josef Slunge made his album debut in 2023, he immediately established himself as one of the most exciting names on the Swedish scene, playfully moving seamlessly between genres and expressions. For Slunge, moving forward is essential, so it’s no surprise that his most recent mixtape I Love You, released last spring, takes an entirely different direction from the album. Here, in continued collaboration with producer Matteus Jording, he returns in homage to the hip-hop where he began his musical journey. The tracks are built entirely from samples, with every sounding tone borrowed from somewhere else—whether it’s a small sound effect, a snare, or something more substantial.
