Five questions for pop star Veronica Maggio, one of the headline acts at this year’s Way Out West.
An album you always return to?
– There are too many! Can’t choose. Purple Rain (Prince), Emmerdale (Cardigans), Ceremonials (Florence + The Machine), The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill (Lauryn Hill), Robyn (Robyn), Livet är en fest (Nationalteatern), Born to Die (Lana del Rey) and Urban Hymns (The Verve). Weird mix… but I could go on forever.
Dream booking at Way Out West?
– I’ve kicked myself ever since I missed Prince in 2011, but if Kate Bush or Joni Mitchell played I would make it my business to be there.
Best and worst ways to handle weariness of being on the road?
– I think the worst ways would include never leaving the tour bus, watching ten consecutive episodes of some depressing show just before going on stage or getting very drunk just to make time go by a little faster. The best thing is just hanging out with the band doing stuff. Going fishing, listening to other bands or just walking around the city.
A favorite Gothenburg memory?
– There are so many… But one time, our gig got cancelled very last minute and we went out instead. Somehow we ended up looking at the sunrise in a weird boat shaped like a giant dragon were you could lay in the dragons mouth. Great night! Give us a tip! – Come see us play!
