Faysa Idle takes her acclaimed poetry show "Allt som glimmar är inte guld" to Way Out West!

When the equally tragic and brutal wave of crime that is currently shaking Sweden is to be understood and analyzed, it is all too often done by people who view the tragic events from a safe distance. The poet and author of the acclaimed book “Ett Ord För Blod” Faysa Idle, who grew up in Tensta with roots in Somalia, knows more than most what it means to be affected by gang violence. She has lost both friends and family members in the cold-blooded war. With the pen as her weapon and poetry as her act of resistance against all the men who have tried to silence her, she now lets her words fly freely in the hope of healing both herself and all the women around her.

Faysa Idle, the author of the book “Ett Ord För Blod,” is bringing her equally emotional and thought-provoking poetry back to the stage. Following the sold-out and critically acclaimed performance of the poetry show “Allt som glimmar är inte guld” at Södra Teatern in Stockholm, Faysa Idle is now taking it further – more specifically to Way Out West 2024. The show touches on themes such as love, grief, gang violence, and coming of age, and will take place in Slottsskogen on Thursday Aug 8. To assist her, she has, besides several other strong voices, the creator Ebba Lange, who will interpret Faysa‘s poems in both still and moving formats. It will be a transformative and poignant journey where Faysa Idle, through the art of poetry, explores love and grief as well as the challenges of growing up in an environment marked by adversity.
