If you’re one of those who thinks that all contemporary hip hop sounds the same, then Manchester based rapper and singer IAMDDB might be something for you. Built on a soundscape best described as jazz trap, 22 year old rap extraordinaire Diana Debrito builds a melodious flow that doesn’t sound like anyone else’s. It’s classic yet fresh, both soulful and hard. Though she’s riding on a crest of attention, the result of previous releases ‘Waeveybby Volume 1’ and ‘Vibe, Volume 2’ – plus an infamous Colours session to boot – it’s her new Hoodrich EP and the journey leading to this point that solidifies IAMDDB as one of this generation’s most self-aware artists. By soul-searching, feeding the result back into her music, she’s an undeniable artist – one naturally balanced between the yin and yang of the intrinsic human experience.
IAMDDB (an acronym for I Am Diana DeBrito) calls her sound for urban jazz – a term that describes her music well. Last autumn IAMDDB made her Swedish debut opening up for Bryson Tiller, and this summer we have the pleasure of presenting her first festival appearance on Swedish soil at Way Out West.
