”En droppe midnatt” takes place in young Jason’s life in a 1980’s Lund, filled with racism and bullying. We get to follow Jason into his adulthood where his hunt for identity, belonging and context results in a shaking journey to his ancestors South Carolina and Harlem. Jason’s personal quest for his roots emerging in a mutual and vibrant story about the afro American history. En droppe midnatt is a dramatized version of the critically acclaimed book with the same name, and will be performed in it’s full-scale version at Höjdenscenen during Way Out West.
In director Farnaz Arbabis hands the story comes to life on stage in a vivid hybrid of monologs, dialogs, music with deep roots within jazz, hiphop and soul mixed with brand new songs and never before heard material. All of this is performed on stage by Jason Timbuktu Diakité, the band Damn! and the singer Mira Palme in a thrilling and visually innovative setting.
