Precious few could justifiably claim and logically explain that their music career is inspired in equal parts by the comic-book villain Bane, specifically the version played by Tom Hardy as Gotham’s reckoning in The Dark Knight Rises, as well as the special kind of hiphop G-Unit and their members produced in the early 2000s, and by freely and boldly genre-blending modern giants like Drake and Future, but also decidedly and definitely by Michael Jackson. For the youth of today, certainly this crop of young artists and their entire generation, this mixing of all things popular-culture is a natural part of their upbringing, so why wouldn’t a 21-year old from East London call himself Yxng Bane and create music in the borderlands between afrobeats and R&B and hiphop?

Acknowledged by the vaunted BBC Sound of 2018 poll and featured by Drake on his More Life mixtape, as well as by Tinie Tempah who signed him to his Disturbing London label, Yxng Bane has in only three years made himself into one of the British capital’s most discussed and exciting new musical talents, selling out shows wherever he goes.
