Having Elton John call the song ‘Love and Hate in a Different Time’ “one of the most seminal records I’ve heard in the last 10 years” is probably not hurting the escalating hype surrounding the LA-trio Gabriels. The band, who comprises gospel singer and choir leader Jacob Lusk and producers Ryan Hope and Ari Balouzian, have since debuting in 2018 already made a huge impact playing shows such as Jools Holland and Jimmy Kimmel as well as being predicted for fame by Radio 1, Rolling Stone, and many others. And it’s not hard to understand why. Gabriels somehow manages to channel the spirit of jazz, soul, classic R&B, and gospel while at the same time remaining distinctively contemporary. Lusk is blessed with a truly magnificent voice – a gift that the perceptive Hope and Balouzian manages delicately. Their latest EP is called ‘Bloodline’ and it is a truly stunning listen. Make sure to catch Gabriels this summer.
Gabriels will be playing on Saturday August 13th.
