Poetry and post-punk. Since their inception five years ago, Dry Cleaning has become one of the style-forming bands within British post-punk, where more and more people are replacing sung vocals with poetry and speech. This, combined with Florence Shaw’s talent for storytelling, gives Dry Cleaning an irresistible appeal, not least on stage. Last year, the band released their sophomore album which ultimately can be defined by the breadth of its scope. Their music is bolder and more expansive, Shaw’s lyrics explore not only loss and detachment but all the twists and turns, simple joys and minor gripes of human experience too. After their triumphant Stockholm show earlier this year, we can’t wait to have them in Gothenburg for Stay Out West. Don’t miss this
