One of the tightest units around. You should check out BADBADNOTGOOD if you’re into intricate rhythms and mind-blowing arrangements. Actually, you should probably check them out no matter what. This (mostly) instrumental four-piece from Toronto highlights the intersection between jazz and hip-hop. Over the years they’ve collaborated with names such as Kendrick Lamar, Little Dragon, Thundercat and Tyler, The Creator. It’s a thrill to welcome them to Gothenburg for their first Way Out West performance.
These beatmakers started playing together ten years ago. Their debut album BBNG, released in 2011, featured covers on tracks by Flying Lotus, Nas and Gang Starr. Since then three more albums have followed plus a joint venture with Ghostface Killah on the full-length Sour Soul in 2015. In December, BADBADNOTGOOD dropped a beautiful version of the Majestics rare soul jam Key to Love (Is Understanding).
BADBADNOTGOOD will play at Way Out West on Thursday August 13.
