”When I was younger, I felt it was my duty to wake people up. I thought poetry was asleep. I thought rock´n´roll was asleep.”
Patti Smith has blessed the world with poetic punk through five decades, and has no intention of stopping now. Together with her constant companion Tony Shanahan, her son Jackson and drummer Sebastian Roachford, Patti will offer a whirlwind of rock’n’roll, poetry and everything in between. It will be an intimate performance on a big stage, where Patti will share small grains of gold from her complete multifaceted career. March 12th, Patti’s new book Devotion will hit Swedish stores, a book where she invites the reader straight into her creative world. A strong recommendation for all that wants an ultimate build-up to her set at Way Out West.
Patti Smith is inducted into the Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame, has been appointed as one of rock’n’rolls greatest by Rolling Stone, has acted next to Rooney Mara and Ryan Gosling in Terrance Malick’s Song to Song and received The National Book Award for her biography Just Kids. Here in Sweden she received the Polar Music Prize in 2011, and when Bob Dylan won the Nobel Prize in literature Patti honored him by performing “A Hard Rain’s A Gonna Fall” at the awards ceremony in Stockholm.
