Few voices have the ability to shape the future, but Jorja Smith certainly sits one of them. While echoing the past, Jorja manages to sound like both today and tomorrow in her R&B-tinged tracks, which so far has come to represent a new generation. Her first track was released in 2016 – the retro inspired Blue Lights – which was followed up by the powerful single Where Did I Go?, later named a favorite track by rapper Drake. Earlier this year, Drake featured Jorja on two tracks on his latest project More Life. However, on Jorja Interlude it sounds like the situation was the opposite – Jorja Smith easily outshines Drake.
Jorja Smith had an amazing 2017, with single releases and several sold out shows. It all culminated with her winning the UK Critic Choice Awards – an award previously won by artists such as Adele, James Bay and Sam Smith. The future looks bright for Jorja Smith, who is doing her first performance on Swedish soil at Way Out West this summer.
