Since the mid 2000’s there’s only been one rock band worth the name. By mixing indie rock with danceable punk, and later also a number of other genres, Arctic Monkeys has become one of the greats. Or at this stage even the greatest of them all. With their five albums – all of which has charted as number one on the UK album chart – Arctic Monkeys has created one of the worlds most impressive rock catalogues, where hits such as Fluorescent Adolescent, Do I Wanna Know? and I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor sits side by side. They have won seven BRIT Awards, been nominated for an additional nine, won 20 NME Awards and one Mercury Prize, and also been Grammy nominated a total of three times. During the last year, a number of rumors that new material is coming our way have flourished on the Internet. If Arctic Monkeys where to release a new album, we can of course be sure that it would be the spectacle of the year – just like every year the band decides to release something new. The last time Arctic Monkeys played Slottsskogen was back in 2009. In 2018 we’ll be seeing them again – bigger, stronger and better than ever before.
Arctic Monkeys was formed in Sheffield back in 2002, and made their first live performances the year after. By releasing some of their demo recordings on the Internet, the band instantly received a devoted fan base, which later got them a record deal with Domino Recordings. Their first major output, the now classic album Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not, was released 2006 and made Arctic Monkeys into the hottest new band coming out of the British Isles. Since, the band has released four more albums while only getting bigger worldwide.
