GEORGE EZRA + six additional acts confirmed for Way Out West

GEORGE EZRA

George Ezra sings with a soulful, wizened tone that seems like it´s coming from a different time, perhaps even another man? Music blog When the Gramophone Rings described it aptly as “something that should come from a captain of a shrimp trawler in Alabama rather than a 21 year old from Bristol.” And he sure knocked a lot of people out when his single “Budapest” ran like a lawnmower over the charts of the world in late 2013. The subsequent album, “Wanted on Voyage” topped the album charts in the UK and was nominated for four Brit Awards. Since then, he has toured with Sam Smith, Tom Odell and Robert Plant. All the while working on a sequel, surely filled with the same charming mix of indie rock, roots music and blue-eyed soul.

FATOUMATA DIAWARA & HINDI ZAHRA – OLYMPIC CAFÉ TOUR

Olympic Café Tour is the story of two great friends, women, artists, and Africans whose life rhymes with nomadism, openness, and freedom. Hindi Zhara has roots in Morocco and has released two acclaimed album’s, been compared to great artists such as Billie Holiday and Patti Smith and has been on stages all over the world. Fatoumata Diawara was born in Ivory Coast to Malian parents, and has also released two albums, acted in tons of films and collaborated with names such as Bobby Womack and Mulatu Astake. They met artistically and personally twelve years ago, on the stage of the Olympic Café in Paris. After twelve years of building bridges between cultures, and spreading modern Africa through the world in their own way, they wanted to be back on stage again. During this tour they will sing songs for each occasion, as well as songs chosen for our pleasure, and of course their own.

CONOR OBERST

After several years with Bright Eyes, Conor Oberst now travels alone. With a guitar, a notebook and his mere voice he’s changed lives for the past 20 years. The Music of Conor Oberst has that share of magic that is needed to inspire, make people come together and make change. This is done by pure storytelling: about big things, small things, important things and unimportant things – always with a rare precision. If Conor Obersts songs have moved you, you never forget – that’s almost scientifically proved. The past year’s Oberst have recorded music and performed it on tour. Last year he put out the album ”Ruminations” which featured personal sketches of songs. This year, he completed the album by recording the same songs with a full ensemble in a studio and naming it ”Salutations”. Also adding a couple of tunes, Oberst might have put out one of this year’s most comprehensive singer/songwriter albums.

HER

France has always been the place for slick music. It started with French house, moved on with Phoenix and now the trend culminates with Her. With stunning synched vocals, ultra slick guitarplaying and a unique mixture of R&B and indie, Her is one of the hottest acts in Europe right now. Behind the project are two Rennes based gentlemen named Victor Solf and Simon Carpentier. Their first project was the EP ”Her Tape #1” – a unique musical journey. It didn’t take long before the world started noticing this sharply dressed duo, and most of their streams actually come from outside of France. Today, the duo releases their second EP – ”Her Tape #2”. Expect something surprising. Her started their 2017 by releasing the single ”Swim” which has been crowned one of their finest songs to date by numerous sources. During the spring Her will be touring through large parts of Europe, trimming their live setup until the hit the stage at Stay Out West.
