Since the mid-80s the Grammy golden kids, aka the Roots, have delivered a live performance that is next to impossible to outdo. Since the very beginning of hip-hop, this band with their roots in the Philly underground scene, has excelled…most of all through their extremely tight live performances. Their shows don't leave anyone unaffected.
The story about Rodriguez leaves no-one indifferent. Searching for Sugar Man is a Swedish Oscar nominated documentary from 2012 made by Malik Bedjelloul. Following the movie's world wide success, Rodriguez has become a super star. Let's not forget that Rodriguez visited Way Out West last year as well, but when he played for a half full theatre stage only a handfull of people knew who he was. That was his first European festival gig ever! Today, exactly one year later, Rodriguez returns to Way Out West. A year when everything changed. He has toured all over the world, playing sold out arenas in front of hundreds of thousands of people.
Rodriguez is now returning to where the journey started - Way Out West. This time he will enter the main stage at Slottsskogen. This time everyone knows who Rodriguez is.
Since the capacity at Stockholm Music & Arts was hardly enough for all the people who wanted to see Rodriguez, it makes us especially happy to be able to be able to present a second show in Sweden this summer. To be able to do that show at Way Out West feels especially great.
From the last album "Transistions", Johnossi's' fourth, we were first given the single "Gone Forever" where John sings with a deeper, more mature and more direct voice. There's a touch of melancholy that tinges the entire single, and quite early on, we learn that this new sound is present throughout the new album. It's slightly darker and rougher, less neat, and sometimes almost sad. "Transitions" is not as easily digestible as the previous albums, but infinitely more beautiful and strong than anything Johnossi has ever done before.
We just can't wait to see Daniel Adams-Ray next step on the musical ladder, and we are very proud to be able to present an exclusive show at Way Out West - his only gig this summer. If this weren't enough, he has promised to play some brand new tunes from his next, so far untitled album that will be released November 6th, preceded by a single in September.
Psst. Soon we will present the schedule. Within a few days we'll release the final version of the app and then you can create, share and synchronize your schedule with the app and Facebook.

With a stonking 14 Grammys to her name and over a decade of hits we know that Alicia Keys is going to give a breathtakingly memorable performance at Slottsskogen this summer and we are delighted to welcome her!
The hypnotic honesty and silky voice of Alicia Keys has both charmed and compelled audiences since her debut 5 Grammy award-winning album, “Songs in A Minor,” back in 2001. Signing to J Records, headed by the legendary Clive Davis, her rise to success has been out of this world, with her second album, “Diary,” earning her another 4 Grammys!
Touted as one of R&B’s major game-changers, it is with great pleasure that we welcome the illustrious Miguel to Way Out West!
Fresh off the UK leg of Alicia Key’s, “The World on Fire,” tour, this 27 year old singer, songwriter, producer and Grammy award winner for his chart topping hit “Adorn,” offers a refreshingly uncynical approach to his craft. Flirting between hints of reggae, soul and hip-hop and adding in his dizzying vocal talents, this is one unique artist.
At Way Out West 2012 we served all manner of food, a little over a hundred different dishes were on the menu. Vegetarian dishes. There were many reasons for this: the environment and sustainability, challenging the norm, animal rights, gender, pacifism, health, and discovery. We saw great results, the environmental effects were reduced and the festival-goers and the artists’ support of our initiative, as well as the food, increased.
Way Out West wants to continue moving forward, we think we can get even better. Without blowing our own horn, the festival food will go from a statement to a full on experience, which we are working hard to achieve. We will present menus and caterers that should warrant a visit in their own right, as well as adding to the overall experience. And no, there will be no meat this year either.
The numbers showed that you like it, if nothing else you know that. Otherwise there is a whole city’s wealth you can partake in. We at Way Out West measure wealth by other means. Were making a small, and hopefully tasty, stand.
